    Golden Globes

Last night was crazy! Jennifer took home her award, Eddie took home his award, Beyonce was robbed for Best Song (as well as the other writers), and the film won best picture musical/comedy. Overall, it was a good night and as long as we won those three I'm happy. You can watch Golden Globe press videos right here, check out Jennifer, Eddie and the DREAMGIRLS group interview. Some of those "reporters" have the worst questions. Anyway, they all looked great last night and it's off to the Oscars but first there's the SAG's. FYI: Hudson is only the second African American actress to win a Golden Globe in a feature film award. Whoopi Goldberg won twice for 1985's "The Color Purple" and 1990's "Ghost."
    Watch Jennifer accept her award:

We all know that Beyonce was not robbed. When you go for Best Actress then you need to bring your A game and she did just that. But her A game is Rene and Merryl's equivalent of C or D maybe. Being pretty does not do enough and the fact that you can hum a few bars does not make you an outstanding actress. She might win on BET but we all know that J. Hud could have won in the Best Actrss category cause she played the hell outta effie white. Sorry Beyonce, all that money wasted and you still didnt even get props for LISTEN. Amazing song, but not so amazing performance on the movie.

I have to agree...plus, Beyonce's dress last night was UGLY!!!...looks like something Tina Knowles designed...
But Jennifer looked fabulous...and I'm glad that the movie won the most awards (in the film category) last night.

Jennifer Hudson looked stunning last night, and I was happy when she won...I was a little shocked when Prince won best song, but thats cool b/c Prince's song was good too...
Overall, I am very happy for all of them.

I feel so happy for Jennifer, Eddie and the cast and crew of “Dreamgirls”. The awards the movie recieved last night put the Oscar race in a whole new perspective. Now, “Dreamgirls” is back in the game and looking good.

Next stop: the Academy Awards nominations. Then, the SAG Awards.

I am happy for everyone!! I have one question, Where is Anika?

Uh oh, just realized Jenn is the third African-American actress to win a Globe for a feature film; Whoopi was first with "Purple" and "Ghost", then Angela Bassett for "What's Love...." and now Jenn. Change it quick!!!!!!!!!!!

    DREAMGIRLS rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAAAAAY Jennifer, Eddie and Dreamgirls!!!! I can't claim to being surprised with any of the results.

Is it just me, but are Hudson/Beyonce making a rather strange embrace?

    Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

Well, it looks like Beyonce is really into the hug, but Jennifer is a touch uneasy. I don't buy into the rumours about animosity between them, so my guess is that the awkwardness stems from J-Hud's sisterly concern that one of B's breasts might pop out of its shiny gold sling.

3rd African American actress? Are we forgetting Halle Berry for Monsters Ball?

Jamie Foxx & Jennifer Hudson were in channel 4 (Canal + France), on the TV show "Le Grand Journal", to promote Dreamgirls. They look great!
Tonight at the Olympia Theatre in Paris it's the "avant-première" of Dreamgirls, with Beyoncé, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson &....I!!!
    I'm sooooo exited!!!!!

referring to the earlier post about Helle Berry and Monster's Ball...she did not win the Golden Globe that year...Sissy Spacek beat her....she did win the Oscar though, and Im hoping Jennifer will win the Oscar too!!

Just saw Dreamgirls - fantastic performances especially Jennifer & Beyonce. Jennifer can belt out those tunes like no one else and yet she lost out on American Idol???!!!! She's a full figured, determined, talented woman who should be so proud of how she's done since Idol. I' a full figured woman who knows where she's coming from. Best to you Jennifer in your career!!!!

I just recently saw dreamgirls and I am so happy for Jennifer she totally deserved the Golden Globe award and I feel that she has a shot at the oscars. I do believe that Beyonce did a good job in the movie especially much better than the other movies she played in but not enough she still has a little ways to go I am rooting for her success in movies. I however do believe that Listen should have won that is a beautiful song but hea maybe another award.
To the previous comment about the pic I am on the same page with the person who said maybe jennifer was being cautious because that would have been embarrassing if the pasty fell off. THAT DRESS WAS NOT GOLDEN GLOBE MATERIAL AND SHE (BEYONCE) SHOULD HAVE SAVED THAT FOR ANOTHER OCCASION BUT NOT A BIG AWARD SHOW.

    Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:38 AM) :

Yeah...I agree with the statement above...that dress was a Grammy-worth event, when fashion isn't examined and evaluated as much as they are at the Golden Globes...she should have known that less is not always best....its a nice design and all, but the material and the golden sparkles and colors were WAY toooo much...if the dress had the same design, but was straight black or red or white or something like that, then it would have been exceptable...she is always doing too much...But Jennifer looked amazing, and I can't wait to see who/what she will be wearing at the Oscars...Vera Wang is one of the top designers, and she was lucky to be able to wear that dress to the Golden Globes...
    I can't wait...I LOVE her..!!!

I THINK EVERYONE LOOKED GREAT, J HUD IS A TRUE BLESSING. SHE HAS A HUMBLE SPIRIT. I'M GLAD TO SEE THAT SHE NOT AFRAID TO WORK WITH TOP CELEBRATIES, SUCH AS EDDIE MURPHY AND JAMIE FOX. THE GOLDEN GLOBE HAD TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT WAS DUE. SEE GOD HAS A PLAN FOR J HUD'S LIFE AND ITS OBVIOUS, IT WAS NOT WINNING THE AMERICAN IDOL. LOOK WHAT HE IS DOING WITH HER LIFE. WHEN GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE. IT DON'T MATTER WHO YOU ARE UP AGAINST.

1 word to describe Beyonce - TRAMP!

I was just thinking about dreamgirls again and all the inconsistencies. For instance, not one of the relationships that they bothered to develop in the movie had any character in it, there was so much missing.

For one, I don't remember anyone's name. Why? Because no one impressed me. JH and JF were obviously attracted to each other, but had no truly intimate moments in the movie. When did they ever cultivate their relationship? We had no attachment for them. They had a child?!!!

Then! B and JF, again obvious attraction, but when did they ever have any meaningful conversation or intimacy? First she starts out on the moral high horse, remember the scene "are you decent", B says "I am, but I don't know about these two". How did she start out being sweet and innocent and then suddenly she's sleeping with her best friends man? And when did JH and JF ever have a relationship anyway? Because she sang a song to him? The writer and director totally missed it on this! I don't think I ever saw a movie where the writers added absolutely nothing to the relationships between individuals. I mean what would Soulfood have been without the drama between characters?!!!

Am I supposed to believe that the character B played would sleep with her bf man and steal her song? I give her no credit for being manipulated by a devious producer because JF in no way convinced me that he was the sort! On one hand, I'm supposed to believe that he did all these underhanded things but he never showed any signs of this character in the movie.

Also, I'm supposed to believe that the same brother who sang to JH the beautiful song about its not about you would then turn around and stab her in the back or forsake her? And then she doesn't speak to him for 9 years but because he says he'll write a song for her she suddenly accepts him back without so much as cussing him out?!!! Give me a break. The more I think about this movie, the weaker it becomes. And when did he ever hook up with the new girl in the group? Hello? Suddenly one day, surprise, their a couple! We never even saw them kiss? What's up with that? This movie when you think about it was really weird? What was it really about?

Where were the critics when this movie came out? They must have been scared to touch it because of an all black cast for fear of racial backlash. I'm glad Jennifer won the golden globe, she deserved best actress because she carried this movie. It would have been nothing without her.

As far as I am concerned JH was the star of the movie. My interest was piqued each time her character appeared .She clearly has gift from God. She has a natural ability to stirr the audience with both her singing and acting. This is something that is innate and can not be learned. I also think Anika did a great job with the the role she was given. As far as Beyonce , a beautiful girl but her acting was just that........ acting and everyone could tell. She did sing well but she did not infuse her character with life. I like that the movie did not totally spell things out to the audience but rather made many inferences from which the audience could come the conclusion (especially as far as the relationships were concerned)
