Update- From golderby.com: Early high estimates forecast that it might make $6 million while appearing on 852 screens. Instead, it made $8.38 million, according to showbizdata.com. That's $9,836 per screen.Adding that total to the sum it made in limited engagement during its road show, "Dreamgirls" already has earned $9.53 million! Turns out the Motown musical is scoring a Christmas surprise about both the size and make-up of the pic's audience. Paramount and Dreamworks had anticipated this story inspired by The Supremes starring Beyoncé, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson doing in the neighborhood of $4.5 mil on Christmas Day. But, based on matinees already, I'm hearing it could score $5 mil and possibly even $6 mil today.
