|Here is an article titled "Dreamgirls Peek is Nightmare for Cannes Purists" that confirms that Dreamgirls will be at Cannes. They are showing a 20 minutes clip of the film. However, what I found interesting about the article is that the "purists" of Cannes are going to be angry because they feel like Cannes has been catering to big hollywood movies. I understand their anger or reluctance but I also think that just because you have a big budget and lots of Hollywood backing does not automatically mean that your movie will be crap. If anything Cannes should be a place that all movies can be judged, big budget and indie alike. However, I thnk once they see th eclip those purists will forget why they are angry. Anyway, here is an excerpt of the article:|
Cannes organisers are to screen 20 minutes of Dreamgirls, starring Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx, next month - a move likely to further incense purists who fear the festival is abandoning its artistic roots and kowtowing to Hollywood's commercial mandate.
