AOL UnCut Video (Taking Entries Now)

AOL Uncut Video is hosting a DREAMGIRLS “Live The Dream” Contest from April 5 through May 4 in which aspiring singers are invited to upload their best performance video of a song from the DREAMGIRLS soundtrack. Site visitors will be able to rate their favorites, add text and video comments and share the videos with friends via email or IM. A team of judges will narrow down the entries to the top five finalists and the grand prize winner will then be viewed by the film’s Oscar®-winning director, Bill Condon, and producer Laurence Mark. Tonight is Barbara's Oscar Special at 7pm ET on ABC and Jennifer Hudson is one of the guest on the Special along with Eddie Murphy. Supposedly, Jennifer sings "And I am Telling You" for the first time. This is an excerpt from an article by The Journal Gazette discussing the special:

“I think this is one of the best shows we’ve had,” Walters says. “We’ve got a great cast, and there are things that made us almost sit up and applaud. Often when you’re doing an interview and you ask someone to sing a little something, they’ll say, ‘Oh, no, I’m sorry. I don’t have my music or my arranger.’ Well, Jennifer Hudson just opened her mouth, and this sound came out! We were staggered.”

Hudson sings the show-stopping “Dreamgirls” number “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” for Walters, who declares it “the first time people who have not seen the film (or the stage show) will hear it. Her story is like the one in ‘Dreamgirls,’ about the girl who’s told she can’t make it, then gets the biggest part there is.”

Click here for the full article. I don't think she will sing the whole song and it seems to be an impromptu performance rather than something that was planned. However, I could be wrong which would be a good thing because there's soem doubters out there who don't think Jennifer can pull the song off live. I know she can and I can't wait to watch all teh action tonight.So make sure you set your tivo's. The special airs tonight at 7pm ET on ABC and 11pm on the West coast following the Oscars.

So the Oscars are this Sunday and new info is coming in about the big night.

The official Oscar press release reports that Beyoncé will perform “Listen” (music by Henry Krieger and Scott Cutler, lyric by Anne Preven), one of three Original Song nominees from the musical “Dreamgirls.” Also from “Dreamgirls” will be Hudson singing “Love You I Do” (music by Henry Krieger and lyric by Siedah Garrett), and Rose, Robinson and other cast mates performing “Patience” (music by Henry Krieger and lyric by Willie Reale). Giant magazine held a pre-Oscar event Wednesday night at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles to honor Academy Award nominee Jennifer Hudson. Jamie Foxx, and Janet jackson were among some of the people who attended.

Stuart Weitzman announced that Anika Noni Rose will wear the Diamond Dream Shoe to the 79th Annual Academy Awards. An excerpt from the press release:

Scott Culter, one of the writers for Listen said today that he would split his Oscar with Beyonce if he were to win Best Original Song on sunday night.

He says, "Beyonce helped that along a lot - little lifts in the melody, little lifts in the song that we hadn't thought of. She just kept sending back ideas, thoughts, what she wanted. "I'll cut my Oscar in the middle and give her half."

According to Eonline Jennifer Hudson will be on the cover of the March issue of VOGUE. Here's an excerpt of the article from Eonline:

"My gal Jennifer has landed herself a cover of Vogue. Winfrey and Berry are the only other African-American actresses to grace the cover of the magazine. Hudson will appear on the cover of the mag's annual Power Issue. It's one of the biggest issues of the year because it includes a spring fashion preview. "March is to spring what the September issue is to fall," a magazine insider says.

Hudson was shot for the magazine by über-celeb shutterbug Annie Leibovitz at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater. In addition to the cover (first reported by WWD), I'm told there are three more portrait pics of her inside the magazine to go along with her seven-page story. Vogue will probably begin releasing images of the Hudson spread sometime next week, a source reports."

Jennifer Hudson has won Golden Globe and SAG awards – and is up for an Oscar – for her role in Dreamgirls – despite what she describes as an abusive experience on American Idol.

"On American Idol, you go through this mental thing; you've got to get yourself back together. You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think," Hudson, 25, tells the new issue of Essence.

"You become a character – I became the girl in the turkey wrapping." (On one episode, she wore an unflattering outfit that earned that label.) "I just knew I had to sing my way out of it. I don't believe in looking back, and I didn't look back."

Hudson also dismisses rumors that there was tension on the Dreamgirls set between herself and costar Beyoncé Knowles. "We clicked from day one," she says.

Last night was crazy! Jennifer took home her award, Eddie took home his award, Beyonce was robbed for Best Song (as well as the other writers), and the film won best picture musical/comedy. Overall, it was a good night and as long as we won those three I'm happy. You can watch Golden Globe press videos right here, check out Jennifer, Eddie and the DREAMGIRLS group interview. Some of those "reporters" have the worst questions. Anyway, they all looked great last night and it's off to the Oscars but first there's the SAG's. FYI: Hudson is only the second African American actress to win a Golden Globe in a feature film award. Whoopi Goldberg won twice for 1985's "The Color Purple" and 1990's "Ghost."

Today is a big day for DREAMGIRLS, the film has five nominations at the Golden Globes. I will be watching every minute of it to see what happens. You can catch red carpet action starting at 5pm ET on the E! channel and the TV guide channel. I will also post pics of the cast as they arrive, I can't wait to see what everyone will be wearing. The best supporting actresss category is one of the first awards to be given out so make sure you are watching it from the very beginning. Also, if anyone out there could record the DREAMGIRLS segements of the show I would appreciate it. I'm sure it will be on youttube but I'm putting the request out there. Jamie Foxx will be introducing the DREAMGIRLS clip and I heard he's flying in from Paris to do it.

On Thursday, Dec. 14 Beyonce received two Golden Globe nominations for her work in "Dreamgirls." Just last week she received five Grammy nods for her latest album. Beyonce's new album, "B-day," was released the day after her 25th birthday on September 5, 2006. She made history in 2001 when she won Pop Songwriter of the Year Award for "Independent Woman" from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. She was the first African-American woman - and the second woman ever - to win the prestigious honor. In the latest edition of TV One on One, the incomparable Beyonce opens up to Cathy Hughes about her childhood, her musical inspiration and her role in "Dreamgirls." The film also stars Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and "American Idol" finalist Jennifer Hudson.

In the film Beyonce plays the role of Deena, a member of the all-girl singing group "The Dreamettes" who goes from obscurity to fame. Beyonce tells Hughes that she lost 20 pounds for the role and underwent a major transformation in order to play someone so unlike herself.

"In the movie, I did not recognize myself at all, so know I did my job," says Beyonce. In real life, 25-year-old Beyonce tells Hughes that she has been working with producers and songwriters since the age of nine. Her father Matthew Knowles would take her to auditions and talent shows, while her mother Tina Knowles, a cosmetologist and designer, would help her get her look together before hitting the stage. Beyonce reveals that this is not the first transformation her body has under gone. "I was a chubby kid," she tells Hughes. She also reveals to Hughes during the interview what her mother had to do to get her body into performance shape.

Beyonce and Hughes also talk about the last time they both saw Gerald Levert, Destiny's Child, the clothing line she and her mother started, House of Dereon, and much more.

The DREAMGIRLS: Collector's Program that will be included in the Road Show will be available for purchase. It is described as:

A 48-page oversized program with 150 color photos, it features cast portraits, illustrated musical numbers, and cast and crew credits. This limited edition COLLECTOR'S PROGRAM will be initially distributed to moviegoers attending the "roadshow" performances of Dreamgirls at theaters in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco that start December 15. Director Bill Condon, however, wanted to make sure everyone would be able to have it, so the COLLECTOR'S PROGRAM will also go on sale in bookstores and at online booksellers on February 15 (priced at $11.95)

In addition, DREAMGIRLS: The Movie Musical the official companion book to the film will be available for purchase. It's described as:

DREAMGIRLS: THE MOVIE MUSICAL is the official illustrated companion book to the sensational film. Jennifer Hudson was just named Best Supporting Actress by the New York Film Critics. Eddie was runner up. DREAMGIRLS made the AFI's (American Film Institute) top ten movies of 2006. You can read the full list here. The films and shows will be honored at an AFI luncheon in Los Angeles on Jan. 12. There are a few critics awards coming out this week and I'll let you know if DREAMGIRLS gets any awards.

Also ,the LA Premiere of DREAMGIRLS is tomorrow at the Wilshire so look out for pictures and video tomorrow and Tuesday.
